The West Haven Government has to grow some and actually follow through on resolving this ongoing issue.

Let's make a change, I vote to consolidate

if they were consolidated it would have saved some of the 54 teachers that are getting pink slips. we need to start cutting from the top... enough cutting from the bottom.
-we need to consolidate fire districts
-neil needs to pass on his $7000 raise this year
-we need to cut out all the paper waste in the schools, i have three kids and receive 3 exact copies of every paper handed out. how about send me 1.. i'm fine with making copies if i need one for each kid. i mean.. just how many school calendars do i really need... i don't even put one up.. they go in the trash.
-why do we need assistants and assistants for assistants and then a secretary for the assistants, assistants assistant.... i won't even go into the secretary of the secretary's secretary..... and all these people answer to the super, assit super, principals, assit principals (plural) in the schools...
we are WAY too top heavy. and the top heaviness just reflects the politics in west haven...
think about the kids for once. keep the 54 teachers, keep the two schools open..

I agree with the last message. Things need to change in our city and they have to start at the top. If you read the city budget; there are too many high paying jobs that are not needed. Many millions could be saved by fixing our crooked fire system.

Consolidate Now! We must end this dictatorship of thease crooked fire districts.

3 Chiefs, 3 Deputy Chiefs, there's at least 700k worth of salaries. Come on, we can do better than that, let's start fixing the city we call home by cutting back where it is needed.

When I said crooked I meant not the logical way of having a fire district not that the people are, I have friends in these fire departments. I mean come on each fire district only has two fire houses in them, that's kind of ridiculous. The only other Fire Departments that have districts are NYC and LA and they are huge. Time to give a little.

I agree with Tim, need to start thinking about the bigger picture.

All 3 Fire Departments are great, they just need to be consolidated to alleviate taxes in our town.

Except that by consolidating the departments, THE CITY would take on all three district's pension liabilities. You know what you call a Mayor who takes on 90 million dollars of debt voluntarily? Former Mayor.

Have they ever saved a house, or just a foundation?

This is will be on going for a long time. We voted 5 years ago about the issue at an election and it was voted to stay the way it is. Maybe it will come up on the ballot some time in the near future. The comments were great.
