(open letter to McGlynn from Senator Jehlen)
Dear Mayor McGlynn,
I am writing to you to share some concerns that many of my constituents have raised regarding
the condition of Harvard St. As you are no doubt aware, many of the residents of Harvard St. believe
that the truck traffic as well as other conditions are creating an unsafe situation. I am aware of the
many challenges involved in addressing these concerns but I am hopeful that we can find ways to
provide some relief to our neighbors on Harvard St.
In particular, an increased police presence to enforce local speed limits would be most welcome.
Additionally, improved signage and cross walks could go a long way toward improving safety. Harvard
St. is the one major through street for that portion of Medford. This fact makes holistic changes to
reduce traffic very difficult. However, there are intermediary steps that can be taken to improve the
quality of life for the residents.
Thank you for your attention in this matter. If you have any questions, or if I can be of any
further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Patricia D. Jehlen
