walking down the sidewalk is terrifying with hundreds of cars and commercial trucks speeding by just inches away. a very unsafe situation. also how about some crosswalks?
I contacted Carl Scioritino several months back trying to find out whatever happened to the supposed funds to improve the signals for this area and was told that it "has been tied up" somewhere. Pretty sad that our residential areas continue to have to endure the noise, traffic, pollution, and poor road conditions that we deal with when it has already been determined that there are more suitable alternate routes for trucks and upgrades in traffic lights would make significant improvements in traffic flow! (for example- the lights at Harvard and Main should be timed to allow for left turns- those vehicles that are unable to turn due to oncoming traffic ultimately tie up everyone behind them!!!) I guess it's going to take an accident before someone does something about it!
Dear Mayor McGlynn,
I am writing to you to share some concerns that many of my constituents have raised regarding
the condition of Harvard St. As you are no doubt aware, many of the residents of Harvard St. believe
that the truck traffic as well as other conditions are creating an unsafe situation. I am aware of the
many challenges involved in addressing these concerns but I am hopeful that we can find ways to
provide some relief to our neighbors on Harvard St.
In particular, an increased police presence to enforce local speed limits would be most welcome.
Additionally, improved signage and cross walks could go a long way toward improving safety. Harvard
St. is the one major through street for that portion of Medford. This fact makes holistic changes to
reduce traffic very difficult. However, there are intermediary steps that can be taken to improve the
quality of life for the residents.
Thank you for your attention in this matter. If you have any questions, or if I can be of any
further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Take care,
Patricia D. Jehlen
State Senator
I believe that there should be a police patrol on bicycles for this entire area of south Medford. The face to face police presence would be a comfort to many and have an immediate effect on crime reduction and law enforcement around this busy and populus area.
I agree although the area wouldn't be especially busy if not for the cut through traffic from rt16 and 93.......these inconsiderate commuters and truckers shouldn't be able to use our neighborhood as their short cut. As I type this message at 6am I hear truckers and commuters speeding by.........Medford- DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!
The SMRTO group has gone before the city council a couple of times and met with the Mayor on several occasions. All necessary parties are aware of the problems with Harvard Street but are choosing to do nothing about it. It's kind of like watching a murder but not intervening. Glad our tax dollars are so hard at work.
Just another In a long list of disgraceful traffic problems being ignored by our incompetent city government. TheMedford CTF list is outrageous. Detroit has better city services than this. What an incredible group of incompetent, disorganized, complacent parasites.
The City of Medford is excited to be launching Commonwealth Connect, powered by SeeClickFix. We are currently in a testing phase and anticipate full launch by the end of March. During this process, we are closing out old issues. If the issue you originally reported has not yet been resolved, please submit a new report. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
