One reason this pylon gets damaged is that during school dropoff parents park on Melrose St. very close to the corner with Belmont St. When cars are parked close to the corner, there is not enough room for westbound traffic on Melrose St. to pass between the pylon and the parked cars. If Melrose St. were posted "No Parking Here to Corner" a car length or two from the crosswalk, that would help a lot.
