An "Ansonia app"? Where? When? How?

Just released... Story on Valley Indy

Thank you. I downloaded and am trying to navigate. I do hope the cost of developing this app was less than a subscription to this site. The value of this site is people know what has been reported and can join the discussion.. the app is very closed off. The city can respond or ignore what it wants, no one will know.

Good point Ryan, will be interesting to see the response to complaints now that there is a direct way to send them in. Would be good PR for the administration to publish a complaint/resolution log periodically, to show the effectiveness and transparency of this new process. No reason you can't share a post here to tell others that you just reported an issue on the app. I'm pleased with the forward thinking and resulting engagement of the community at large, to make our city a better place to live.

I just downloaded the app from reading this. Seems good. I agree they should share what they accomplish in general terms because here it's public knowledge. There they can cherry pick and no one will know what they ignored. A neighbor sent me this. Horrible!

I tried the last time to get them to stop leaving and it took me to lose my temper to get it stopped. The worse part is if you go on vacation they pile up letting everyone know you are away. It needs to be stopped. If I don't get your paper I don't want you to leave anything in my driveway or street

I used to deliver newspapers so I can speak to this a little. People who don't subscribe to the newspaper get a mailing of store inserts It's the STORES that ask the newspapers to make sure to "not miss anyone" so they are hired to make sure even if you don't get the paper, you know about their sale. Not every store does it.

These are mailed to "non subscribers".. note MAILED. The New Haven Register still mails theirs as do most papers. However, in some places newspapers have gotten cheap and don't want to pay the postage. It's easier to hire someone for $10/hr (or whatever) to drive around throwing them in bags at each home. SURE, it sames a ton of postage... but it takes one more thing away from the Postal Service (who employs local residents) and makes trash as most people recycle these when they come in the mail. On the lawn? They won't spot them especially now that it dark's when people get home. Wait until the snow!

I believe the Mayor of Derby, Ansonia, etc. needs to get a hold of the Publisher of the Connecticut Post (which is part of Heart... of Patty Heast. They have more money then God) and tell then they are creating a public nusense, blight, pick one. and that they can either STOP IT, put it back in the mail OR hang bags on people doors... which will take 10 times as long but get it off the streets.

I can't tell if Ansonia has a law against this or not, but it has to be stopped.

Got my second pink bag, it's contents blowing all over the sidewalk. Just reported it with the new app. Will report back here on the response.

Got a third bag. Called the Connecticut Post, told them I am not a subscriber and I do not want their unsolicited ads dumped on my sidewalk in front of my house. No response or acknowledgement from using the Ansonia App as of writing this.

Received e-mail responding to complaint I made using the Ansonia App. The response was: "call the Connecticut Post". Unfortunately, that won't take care of all of my neighbors junk from blowing in my hedges. sigh.

The CITY OF ANSONIA used their new app to tell a resident "Go solve your own problem." !? You've got to be kidding. Now we see why this site (where complaints are public) is a far better option.

NO, the Connecticut Post is creating blight by throwing what is almost instantly garbage all over Ansonia's sidewalks and yards and driveway's of residents. I saw 8 sitting in bushes and 2 on the sidewalk in front of vacant homes.

The city needs to send a letter to the Connecticut Post with a cease and desist from Corporation Council. If they want to have delivery people walk up to each residence and place the bag near the mailbox or front door (which is done in other areas by other newspapers) they are welcome to do it. Yes, it will cost them more than take longer.

They are the ones who decided to pull this out of the US Mail to save a bunch of money on postage. They can hand delivery CORRECTLY or they are to stop.

More bags dumped everywhere this week. City seems to not care.

3 calls to CT post and now I am getting 4 a week. They are throwing them on the sidewalk in front of my driveway as well. My neighbors who rent, can't be bothered to pick them up. Now they are in the street. Hey, where is the Valley Indy in all of this? An out of town media company littering our streets and no response.

I am planning to write the major advertisers who pay for these ads to tell them what a fine job the CT Post does, and how I plan NOT to shop with them because of how their ads become blowing trash, rather than being properly delivered. That should get some attention.
