This is a big issue. The home owner is not at fault, the water has to go some place. A new storm water drain needs to be placed at Fillmore and 9th street to correct this problem. This has been an issue for years and I am glad it is finally being addressed.

This was forwarded to the Engineering department for a response:

"We are aware of the sump pump and water issues at this intersection. Engineering staff has recently surveyed this intersection to see what needs to be done to repair the street and to improve drainage. We are planning on adding this area onto a street repair project for next year."

Why not suggest the resident drain his hose in his yard till the problem is resolved?

That would be nice but they're gone to the trouble of cutting the sidewalk and piping it directly to the street.

I think the City of Mason City needs to make an exception on this property and let them drain the water into the sanitary sewer line until they come up with a resolution. We can't wait any longer.

I agree! If it's clean enough to be pumped into the street it should clean enough for the sewer

The city needs to put a storm drain on all four corners of this intersection! This is getting old... how long have we complained about it? Get something done!

6 months later and no coment from the city about what they are going to do, other than build an Ice arena downtown that we don't need and can't use.

saw a lady wipe out this evening from the street wide erosion! wonder if she now's a good lawyer? i know i have one!

They finally fixed the street and now they started pumping the water back on the street again.

The intersection looked good dry, is the city still going to let you divert to the sanitary sewer in the winter so there are no Ice dams at the intersection?
