It's something that's always concerned me, but I'm also going to be tracking its progress to see how this technology is working.

To date, there's no completed crosswalk here.

There's a truncated dome strip on the NW corner facing South with a curb cut out. No other assistance or markings to the other side.

On what would be the SW corner there is no cut out, there is no truncated dome strip. The sidewalk has been crafted to turn and connect with the curb where a grass strip may normally be.

NOTE: Today, there was a sign on the sidewalk, South of Schoolcraft Drive, East of N Washington Ave, yet not visible to pedestrians walking along Saginaw. It reads "Be Safe, when crossing Saginaw use crosswalks. DON'T J WALK."

A better picture is attached. I suspect this is the proposed crosswalk noted.
I see truncated cones on the North side of Saginaw and a curb w/o truncated cones on the South side. It's confusing as there are no street lane markings, one side is pedestrian ready (actually inviting until one steps into traffic), the other isn't.

Thanks for doing this, Neal. I had a feeling people were digging their heels on doing something about this. If they don't want a people crossing there, they need to eliminate the truncated dome and all the on-campus paths leading to that spot. I walked my dog across there daily and was almost hit numerous times. I 'll also look into the traffic hit/fatality data. It just doesn't make sense for students who are mostly parked on Washington to cross the street at Capitol then walk through the park back to Washington, especially when so many of the on campus walking paths lead to Oakland and Washington.

Here's the J Walk sign. It's near the SE part of the intersection but keep in mind it's on the South side of Schoolcraft, what you could consider a service drive to avoid entry onto Saginaw East bound traffic.

This is the report that I got from the Transportation Department on this matter: "We could put the ramps in, but MDOT would need to approve the crossing. Since the crossing wouldn't be signalized, I would be hesitant to suggest a mid-block crossing when there are signals one block either way. I will forward the issue to MDOT. Andy"

Andy, if it is not feasible to add striping, based on the availability of the 2 signals, perhaps it just makes sense to fill in the curb cut, so pedestrians are not under the mistaken impression that they can cross there. Also, this is not exactly a mid-block crossing, since the block of Washington ends at that point.

Has this resolved itself with time? Has been viewed 700 times in 4 1/2 years. Good to see so many have shown an interest.

Some changes have been made. I will try to take a picture this spring.

I had planned to take a picture of it, but I will just comment on it. In my opinion, it has been taken care of. There is a crosswalk painted, the curb was fixed, and almost all the traffic that goes through there stops at a red light about a block away. The exception is those that turn left off of North Washington Ave. - usually not very many.
