Thank You, for your request and concerns have been received at Chatham County Public Works Department. Your request has been forwarded to our Solid Waste Department for further review and scheduling for removal. Again, Thank You and Thank You for Your Patience.
This was reported last week, and is still there. The owner has a big sign that says he'll start breaking glass. I guess that's his way of telling us to mind or own business. But really? This guy has been sing this for well over a year.
What more info do you need, rather not give phone number as you have my contact info, please direct to that would rather not have my phone number plastered for all to see !
Sir, This is an ongoing problem for that area. We are monitoring and will do our best to remove it, your eyes & ears are very much appreciated. If you should come upon any information (car type/model/color, tag#) it would be helpful. We apologize for such minor actions but this is all we can muster at this time. The police are not going to be much help with all the crime. But we will try again thanks for your input
The owner of the pile of debris lives on the dirt driveway directly behind this pile of debris. He's a junker - meaning, he gets a pile of debris, sorts through it for scrap metal that he can sell to the scrapyard, and leaves the remains of it in a pile next to the road for you guys to pick up - and for taxpayers to pay for. Since he does this as his business, the landfill across the street won't take the stuff.
A while back I had gone back there to see if he had some scrap lead - He had a burn-pit that he was burning this debris - then sift through the ashes to get the metal.
I never did see the owner, though I am sure he was home at the time - just ignoring the door.
Mark,
I am going to submit this to the Director of Public Works and see if we can't get an inspector from Building Safety & Inspections involved, I will keep you informed.
As of the past couple weeks, the county has picked up the debris - they had left a pile of tires, but that too has been removed. I haven't driven that way in a couple days, so I don't know if the debris pile has started again.
I drive by 4 times a day. The camera is in the wrong place to capture tag numbers. Folks can see the camera and simply avoid being on that side of the utility pole. A more stealthy camera would probably catch a few and gain some much-needed money for the County; $500 per fine would sure help to ease the budget.
