I agree that this is a tremendous problem, I live not far from those tracks, and so I cross over them multiple times a day. However, it would be very difficult to track down these kids, they disappear into the woods at the sight of a cop. There are paths all up and down the tracks where they can just hop off the gravel and not be seen.

Get a life. Just because you can't afford a dirtbike or an ATV, then no one should be allowed to enjoy them. Stop ruining our fun.

Also, why are you that close to the tracks that pebbles get kicked up into your car? Did it ever occur to you that coal and other hazardous materials can fall out of hopper cars barreling down those very tracks?

Trains cause much more dust and debris than ATV's or dirtbikes.

It's not that i can't afford one, you people need to ride on your own property. How would you like it if I sat in front of your house and reeved up a Harley without an exhust pipe on. I am sure your mother if you have a dad would not like it. If you have the guts leave your address and I will provide that for you. You punk A.. B....

I pay taxes on city land I should be able to use it. That includes public roads. The tracks are owned by the rail system and if they thought there were issues they would press charges. Until someone does that, riding the tracks are fair game. It's not your land so I invite you to lobby contain or whoever owns that land. Good luck getting somewhere.

To the ATV rider.

To begin with you pay city tax this is a township, also, paying your tax in the city still does not give you the right to ride on Federal property and also you need to pay for plates and a license to ride on public roads of which you don't have. You would know that if you took a class in geography that there is a difference between city and twp. For the other thing the neighbors don't need to hear you all weekend long, which brings me to the point of, did you forget to leave me your address, would love to sit in your front yard and rev-up my Harley and see how you and your parents like it. Plus we pay our taxes for our use not for you to tresspass on.

To end this debate, I hear motorcyclists riding down the road daily with sound pressure levels much higher than my atv can put out. I may also remind you that I live on a quiet sidestreet 2 miles from traintracks. I did this on purpose so I wouldn't have to hear trains but I lost out on motorcycles. Would you like it if I trudged into your personal interests and asked for a ban on motorcycles on public streets?

Now that we are on the same page let me say this:

The tracks were probably there first so when you moved in, you HAD to know there going to be noise issues involved or you were simply on some illegal mind altering substance when you signed your papers on the house.

One more comment... why would you be compelled to rev your Harley in front of my house for hours? We just zip by and we are gone.

Where did you go to school? The issue is ATV on Federal property. It is against the law to ride by the tracks. So, i am not trudging into your personal interest and asking for a ban on motorcycles on public streets. You must be on some mind altering substance if you DON'T UNDERSTAND the issue. IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO RIDE ON FEDERAL PROPERTY BY THE TRACKS!!!!!! That is the issue here!!!! So, yes there is a difference between public streets and riding by the tracks.

To your above comment again, we like living next to the train tracks. Trains only go by every 20 minutes and they are gone. you guys on the otherhand, start at 10 in the morning and don't stop till 10 at night and i can hear you all day long. We do live on a quite street you guys make it annoy to live here you can't enjoy the outside because you guys break the noise ordinance all day long. Two miles is a big difference then living near where you ride for 8-10 hours a day. Move next to the tracks and see if you enjoy the outside vs. the two miles that you live.

To all above, I see both sides, your concerns about the noise on one hand and the atv riders on the other, I too am a atv rider and you don't need a license plate to ride on the roads just a tag which most of us have, as long as you are a licenced driver and have a sticker on your atv you can ride on any public road, I too get upset when people that move to townships complain about the four wheelers and dirt bikes riding up and down the roads, you complain if we do then you complain when they are going some where else like the tracks, I think the citys should provide a place for people to ride because more and more people are moving to this areas are complaining and trying to push these riders to go else where like tracks so ether let them ride on the roads or provide some where for them to ride but they should not ride along the tracks because I not knowing any of you would not like to read about someone being killed by a train.

Ah duh townships do pay taxes too, I live in Madison township and my taxes are higher then yours more then likely due to we don't have the industry like some citys, and also four wheelers don't have plates they have stickers and all you have to be is a licenced driver with a sticker on your four wheeler, it's not like a motor cycle.
