Yes, most of them in the City of Folsom already do. State legislation passed in 2007 requires all newly-installed actuated signals or actuated signals having loops replaced be able to detect motorcycles and bicycles. It's implementation was delayed a couple years as Caltrans developed standards, but it has been in the CA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices since at least 2010. See CA Streets and Highways Code 21450.5. And I'm pretty sure this intersection has had new loops installed since 2010, and the left turn lane appears to have a "bike loop" (they are recognizable by the diagonal wires going through the rectangular loop, but only visible if they were cut in after the fact).
Good to know. I sold my last motorcycle about a year ago but remember many lights that you either had to wait for a car to come up behind you or run the light...dangerous at times. I ride bicycles too but not as much in traffic situations.
Technicians tested the detector loops and they appear to be in good working order. If the problem occurs again please let us know and we'll re-evaluate.
