This location was recently listed by the Clearwater Aquarium staff as a problem location. The City Planner sent out letters last week to all of the properties on the beach who have bright white lights shining on the beach. Sunset Chateau was one of the locations notified. The enforcement system does not go straight to a fine. Property owners get notices / warnings before they go to the code enforcement board.

Loggerhead turtle eggs hatch in roughly 55 days here in FL. Hopefully the lights get turned out before the current eggs begin to hatch (late July?) and the turtles are drawn AWAY from the water instead of towards it. (Instinctively they are drawn to the moon reflecting off the water).

Notice of violation 10 days, and then
Notice of hearing to identify the date of the code board hearing.

The code board determines if the owner violated the regulation or not.
If the code board finds the owner was in violation but they are no longer in violation then the code board identifies the owner as a first time violator.-- but no fine

If the code board determines the property is still in violation. the code board gives the owner xx days to correct the violation. If after that period of time the owner is still violating the regulation -- the code board places a fine on the property of $xxx / day. The fine runs each day until corrected.
