I have never had an issue with the smell...and the barking dogs don't bother me either. I have gotten use to it. The thing that does bother me is hearing the employees of the daycare yelling and screaming at the dogs. I have even heard people curse at them! I would love to leave my dog there, but after hearing the way some of the employees (mainly on the weekends) talk to the dogs, I have decided to go elsewhere.
I live up the street and use this doggy day care to board my dog. I have even taken a tour of this business it is nothing but clean and the staff is very friendly. The staff has taken care of my dog countless times. Yes i agree they do seem to yell and curse at the dogs but i see it this way if it stops the dogs from doing what they were doing wrong then please go ahead and curse and yell at my dog as long as they are not abusing my dog and she continues to go there just about pulling my arm off i have no problem
We have been going to the Dog Cabin for over 2 yrs . I have been inside the building, the kennels and have seen the daycare. This place is clean! Go take a tour for yourself. They will give you one. We love it and will continue to go. As far as the barking goes, it is a doggie daycare. And the yelling? Im yelling at my dog constantly. He doesnt listen!! Thats why I bring him to daycare. I wouldnt want that job, I go crazy with one dog, never mind 30 dogs !!!!
I have worked at many doggy daycares and even worked at the dog cabin even if only for a short time and must say that this place is by far better than any other doggy dc i worked at. I worked the morning shift in the DC.
To the person complaining about the yelling and cursing at the dogs You need to understand that they work with at least 30 something dogs when they are all barking at once there is no way to not yell if we don't match or go above their level there is a bigger chance that there will be a fight If we don't stop them. I learned that while i worked there.
I can't say anything about the all the DC staff but what i can say is about the girl i worked with in the AM her name is naiomi she is awsome with the dogs she knows all the dogs by name and they all respect her. while i was there she was bitten many times by dogs and never once lost her cool, she took the time and waited for the dog who bit her to feel calm around her. Even when a fight started one time there was about 30-35 dogs all she had to do was yell HEY! and they stopped i wish everyone who complains or has doubts will go there and see and meet the person that is with your dogs they are not yelling to be mean but yelling to stop something bad from happening or to stop them from barking at the fence.
Wow. I'm glad I continued to read the comments all the way to the end. My dog goes to the Dog Cabin and she loves it also. I was worried for a second there when i saw the first three posts.
i agree that the staff loves the dogs and my dogs does/did as well. i just recently stopped bringing my dogs to the dog cabin due to the smell and mud on them. It was awful like sewage almost. I bathe my dogs once a month now but when they went there it was once a week. yes they will offer you a tour but they do not take you outside so you can't see and smell where your dogs are really playing. The last day i was there i went around back and WOW if you could smell and see what i did I am sure you would never return. I always asked why is my dog so muddy and smelly ( on a nice sunny dry day) and all i got was i'm sorry your dogs plays in the water bowl. Fine ok that explains the water, but what about the smell and mud. i thought there was pea gravel.
If the smell and yelling is that bad why doesn't any one go to the owner of this business and ask them to do something about it, or have you already tried to speak with the owner. If they do not address the problem go here and report them http://www.ct.gov/doag/cwp/view.asp?a=1367&q=259106&doagNav=|
I tried to contact the dog cabin about an issue with both the smell and the rocks and they have yet to reply. i use to take my dog there for a while until my dog started smelling of sewage and i had to bring her to the vet because she was not pooping. i found out that she had a blockage in her stomach due to he eating rocks. when i spoke to them they told me i could buy a muzzle and she would have to wear it while she was there. who would do that? how would my dog protect herself if a dog tried to fight her. They do temperment testing on the dogs that go there yet my dog was growled at and almost attacked by the owners dogs everytime i use to bring her in. Yes i know i should of stopped going then. i agree with UNHAPPY and the person who posted this issue something needs to be done
