This stop light is not long enough when traveling on Mt. Vernon. Only about two cars can go before it is red again. The timing needs to be extended. Also some markings on the road to indicated the left lane turning would be an asset.

We checked the signal and timing proper, given the volume of traffic on Southfield Road. Southfield at this point is one of the busiest county roads in the state of Michigan. Giving more green time to Mt. Vernon would likely cause signficant backups on Southfield road. Pavement markings on Mt. Vernon itself are handled by the City of Southfield.
