Closing issue as both Parks staff and Community Services staff have advised the property owner that there is no action warranted by the City at this time as the trees are healthy and in the ROW. Will send property owner an email from Mayor detailing the following assessment:
Update from Community Services: The reported trees are in the right-of-way. City Ordinance 16.40.060.3.1 addresses "Maintenance of trees and vegetation for all properties within the City", and it states:
“The owner of record of the property and occupant of the property are responsible for the maintenance of trees and vegetation on private property and in abutting rights-of-way.”
This means that if you feel the trees need to be removed, you would therefore responsible for their removal, not the City.
You may wish to contact the City's office of Urban Forestry (727-892-5557) to find out if there are any permit requirements before you contact a licensed tree removal company:
