说明
There have been massive traffic back-ups on Speen Street, from the intersection of Rt. 135 down to the intersections of Mill and Pond. At first, I thought this was purely due to commuter volume. But, the backups exist on the weekend as well. Example: at approximately 11:30am on Saturday, October 14, I witnessed traffic clogging on Speen, Mill and Pond. Can the timing of the northbound lights at 135 and Speen be adjusted to accommodate a better flow of traffic?

With all due respect, I believe the issue is lights timing. I've lived on lower Speen Street for 25 years, and this traffic clogging has appeared only in the last 3 or 4 months. Also, while cars do turn left from Speen Street north to Rt. 135 west, it is indeed a rare occurrence -- particularly on weekday mornings.
Let me cite another example. At 8:25am today, mine was the first car at the intersection of Mill-Pond when the light turned red. Across the intersection, the section of Speen in question -- from Mill-Pond to Rt. 135 -- was already jammed with bumper-to-bumper traffic. At best, only 8-9 cars heading northbound on Speen can make it through the lights at Rt. 135. The timing should be extended to allow 12-13 cars at a time.

I agree there is a traffic issue here but without extensive construction and widening which just is not in the cards at this time, I think if you re-time one direction we will end up with the same issue in the other direction.
I will look at this again but as of right now we have already done re-timing of these intersections.

I will leave this issue open until I can look again at these intersections and get back to you.
