说明
All too frequently, I arrive at EV Charging Stations at City Hall to find SUVs and other internal combustion vehicles parked in the 2 "EV Only" spaces directly in front of the building. Typically, when I do actually encounter them, I mention it in as helpful a way as I can, figuring its an honest mistake. I am no longer convinced that's very often the case. Most become confrontational, and make some assertion that it's no big deal when there is no one parked there. With 4, count am, FOUR spaces providing charging services exist in their entirety across Cape Ann, I can assure everyone, ITS A BIG DEAL.
But for the edification of those who indicate they couldn't tell, I will say that the "EV Only Parking" sign is positioned rather high, and the yellow posts that protect the charging pedestal could sport lettering stating "EV Parking Only" (I would add "This Means You Fred & Wima Flintstone", but that's just me).
I think that it also might be helpful if a memo was sent to GPD recommending they, for the time being, make it a rule to make note as to whether a potential violation exists on those occasions that they find themselves on Warren Street. They have been very understanding of the problem, and ticket (and occasionally tow) vehicles in violation.
In closing though, I think signage is key to solving this problem. It may be as simple as having the person charged with resolving the issue actually sitting in a vehicle and observing the signage issues.

Thank you for reporting this. The police department will post a memo, and it is discussed at each roll call to step up enforcement. But when a violation is seen, the best way to deal with it is to call the police station - 978-283-1212.
Public Works will review the signage as you requested.
Thank you again and have a great day!

And sorry about the original miscategorization of the issue. Wasn't sure if it should be placed on the GPD's plate.
I also applaud GPD and the city for tonight's decisive action, as not only myself, but another EV owner were prevented from using the spaces and I can't speak for tge other driver, but by the time I drove to the annex to find some large scale meeting underway and all ports in use, i was basically "flatlining", which can be pretty scary when
you're out on the road with no propulsion, or heat for that matter).
Anyway, thanks everyone!

"Ev Parking Only"
It might be a successful stop gap measure so we're not just having everyone towed until a permanent solution is put in place. I mean, my mission in driving a fully electric vehicle is to encourage others to take the plunge and start tge ball rolling toward a cleaner future. And any behaviour on my part that might seem either punitive or elitist. Not good for the movement, if you know what I mean.

Your answers -
1)I am paying the taxes that created the grant that put the wind turbines, which Robert has already explained create the energg that chargesthe cars when parked in tgese spaces.
2) There are several THOUSAND spaces devoted to whatever source of polution abd wasted energy you're drivin, feel free to park in any of them and I doubr anyone will troll you on the internet.
3)I make no apologies for going to considerable expense and some inconveniece to work toward a bette, cleaner and more stable environment for my children and those yet to come. You ought to give it a try. Also, y kids have never driven a fossil fuel vehicle. And my son is investing in a career as a mechanical engineer as a result of his fascination with my car. You can thank me later when he brings about some change in the world that benefits us all.
4) I DO PAY FOR MY CHARGES everywhere else I charge. Which is basically none of your business BTW.
5)if you like, I could sequester the time of city officials and demand that a fair amount of tge metered spaces around the city be set up for EVs and with a number approaching 100 vehicles, our side would probably pick up a few spaces.
In short sir, I wish you the best of luck in finding tge RIGHT tree to bark up in your quest to make Glou ester great again.
Have A Grateful Day
Tom
