Hi, my name is Ramon Forman. I am new to the neighborhood, and this is my house that I recently purchased. My understanding of use of a tarp is to cover the intended protective area. I put down grass killer so I can clear over growth and invasive weed plants, and put a tarp over it to suffocate, if that helped in any way. I am by far no pro, but are doing the work myself. If the tarp is being misused which I do not see how, then I will remove it. I am trying to get the front yard to look aesthetic to this wonderful neighborhood, but its gonna take some work. So please bare with me. I have brush and limbs to remove, I am still cutting back limbs and branches. Its gonna take time. I also work full time.
I believe the tarp being complained of here is the one on the car in the driveway. Under st Pete ordinance, a tarp must be neat, must be 6 inches off the ground so that codes can establish that the car is drivable without flat tires, and the tag must be either visible by codes or must be written on the tarp so that they can check to make sure the car is registered. It's possible that the tarp is not the one in your yard but the one on your car that is being reported.
Welcome to the neighborhood Ramon and thank you for serving. Lakewood Estates is a beautiful place to live and I have done so off and on for over 40 years. I have seen a lot of changes happen, some good, some bad, but it has never really changed the core value of the neighborhood. I am sure that you too will love living here, there is a slight caveat to the neighborhood; The Lakewood Estates Civic Association. The Association has been a part of the neighborhood for decades and used to do a lot of good for our neighbors. While they still do plenty of good for the neighborhood today, there is a small group, mostly officers, who pleasure in driving around the neighborhood and reporting code violations, especially on homes of non members of the association. It would be in your best interest to join and watch the magic of frequent code violation reports magically disappear! Also, feel free to Google Judy Ellis, the association president, just so you have an idea of who you are dealing with. Sonofstpete needs to note that this was an anonymous report; he has leaped to the conclusion that it was done by the Association. In fact, the Association would have recognized Mr. Forman as a new resident, would have greeted him via the welcome committee and advised him of a city ordinance he might otherwise not be advised of. Sonofstpete needs to find another way to rid himself of whatever demons are causing him to be so judgmental, venomous, and vindictive. Enough already, John. Get a life.

What is wrong with you, Mr. SonOfStPete? Do you have any idea what you're talking about or are you just an angry bag of hot air looking for a place to explode? Judy Ellis has done more for this neighborhood than anyone in the last 2 decades, and your ignorant remarks about reports to Codes are appalling. Members of the Association don't get reported to Codes because first, they don't do ugly things like yard parking, and second, they are contacted by email when there is something to call to their attention. You need to get a life, crawl back under your rock and just plain Shut Up! You're an embarrassment. Find another hobby.

Anyone unhappy with the current leadership of the Lakewood Estates Civic Association should keep in mind that there are elections coming up on Wednesday, Jan. 17 for 6 of the 8 seats on the board. Several new people have announced they are running, including someone seeking oust Judy Ellis as president. The deadline for informing the board of your candidacy is Dec. 15. Don't believe the garbage posted on these comments. It was an anonymous report. Judy Ellis posts under LECA president. She has no reason to do otherwise. Last year I reported a vehicle for loud noise- didn't even live here- and they set up see click fix accounts to make themselves look like Judy and kept reporting my home for the stupidest things. If son of a whatever looked past his nose and saw what people in other neighborhoods report, he would realize the types of things reported in our neighborhood are commonly reported all over the city. It is not revenge. It is a desire to live in a nice neighborhood and protect property values. And this is certainly not a forum to be running a slander campaign against LECA. if you actually knew them, you would find out they are a bunch of very nice people working hard ( and for free) to keep our neighborhood strong. And by the way, I have personally seen the all mighty Judy Ellis use this very website as a retaliation against neighbors who were having a disagreement. Unfortunately, the people she reported were not LECA members and the other party was. I love what LECA could do if provided different leadership. This is a definition of a "civic association': A civic association is a type of organization whose official goal is to improve neighborhoods through volunteer work by its members. Not a group of people who have nothing better to do than drive around and report their neighbors all day. Put your money where your mouth is and volunteer to help those less fortunate fix that broken fence instead of getting the bureaucracy of the city involved. Not all of our neighbors can afford to drop $1k on an issue you view as a blight.
