We have such a great neighborhood in which to take walks. By adding a crosswalk over 8th Ave, we will greatly increase the area available for safe walking (with kids and pets). I think this will also greatly increase community interaction as people tend to socialize with others in the neighborhood during early evening walks.

The City will soon be in the process of constructing the 6th Street Rail-Trail between West University Avenue and N.W. 10th Avenue. This construction will include an enhance mid-block crosswalk where the Rail-trail crosses N.W. 8th Avenue near N.W. 4th Street.

Thank you for the improvements to NW 8th Avenue crossing at the Rail Trail near NW 4th Street. However, the original request refers to NE 8th Avenue between North Main Street and NE 7th Street. Can we look to add at least one marked pedestrian crossing there?

The Public Works Department is now investigating the possibility of installing a mid-block pedestrian crosswalk on N.E. 8th Avenue somewhere in between N.E. 1st Street and N.E. Boulevard. The key factor will be establishing a safe location where pedestrians approaching the crosswalk will be visible to motorists on N.E. 8th Avenue.

We have identified funding to install a pedestrian crossing east of Main Street on 8th Avenue. Our thoughts are to install between NE 2nd Street and NE 3 Street. I frequently observe residents crossing 8th Avenue in this location. I would be interested in hearing from residents on their thoughts for exact location of a crossing.
