Description
The landlord never shovels/clears snow and ice from sidewalks. He's leaving this for the elderly tenants to take care of. With the current snow storm I am concerned for the elderly people who live in this property. Both have medical conditions and should not be shoveling snow. I would like the City to inform the landlord that it is the Landlords responsibility to remove snow and ice.

Maybe instead of asking the city to inform the landlord on a day like today where they will have more than enough to deal with, a good neighbor could go an assist the elderly in the house and shovel for them to ensure theybare safe. We all understand that as we get older we are not able to do the things we used to, or should do them. We rely on the community to assist us in some cases, like today. If I were the neighbor I would assist by shoveling. I do it now with my current neighbor as I know she is not able to do it herself.
Be a good neighbor.

I am aware that the city states they are going to take issues like this more serious. The proof is in the pudding though. The city states all tge time they are going to assist the citizens and make Malden a better place to live. I haven't seen a thing they've done to keep the long time residence in Malden. They signed an agreement to have peddle bikes randomly placed around the city that are tacky and makes the city look like trash. They moved out of city hall and now a developer is making high rise condos there all while city hall offices are in numerous other buildings instead of 1 central location. They said they'd promote small businesses and growth but when numerous people have applied for land changes or petitioned to open a small business that would create jobs, the city denied them that opportunity so they moved the business elsewhere and that city welcomed them with open arms. So don't get too excited about the city sending a letter to a landlord informing them that they are required to shovel. They don't do anything about neighbors who let their dogs crap on your property or sidewalk in front of your house, why would they do that?
And I have a 100 y/o neighbor who cannot shovel her own walkway and her daughter cannot do it all alone as she is older as well. Myself and my daughter assist when we can or give her son a hand when he comes by. I teach my daughter to be kind to all our neighbors and if you can help then you do. That's a community.

Snow Ordinance enforcement does not start until 24 hours after snow plowing operations cease. Weather conditions can delay the enforcement operations as well.
Plowing operations ceased Friday, January 5, 2018 at 5AM.
