I'm deeply disappointed in City leadership and management.
Today I noticed that the Hickory House Bank installed modern LED lighting at the sidewalks on CDR. Yet the Bank of N Georgia has faux gas/boulevard lights, as does Dunwoody Village Pkwy. As does every photo in the "Future Character" section of the Dunwoody Village Master Plan (2011). Yet Division 3 of the Dunwoody Overlay is silent on lamp style. What, exactly, is going on? Are we really going to have a mish-mash of modern and Victorian and boulevard lighting? Has anyone who works for the City been to Sandy Springs lately?
I'm sick of the DHA claiming to represent homeowners. I'm sick of the City saying it's going to "up" the Dunwoody game. Burger King: vacant. Texaco lot: vacant. Hickory House: gone. Black Walnut restaurant: refused a variance/SLUP. It's bush league. Words. No action. This is Exhibit A.
Who approved the plans?

One more thought, while I'm at it.....we were also assured that the magnolias that fronted the property would be preserved. Then, the developer said they could not be spared b/c of the sidewalk installation. Do you really want us to believe that no one could predict the impact of the sidewalks on the trees? Was that a misrepresentation or incompetence?
The building is an eyesore and the pagoda behind it is not architecture or site planning.

Division Four, Sec. 27-97. - DVO, Dunwoody Village Overlay.
(8) Lighting must conform to the following:
a. Pedestrian and street lighting must be placed in the landscape zone at intervals of 90 to 100 feet on center and must be equal distance from required street trees, in accordance with the Georgia Power Area-Wide Pedestrian Lighting Plan.
b. Pole height may not exceed 15 feet.
c. Light poles and lamps must be selected from the city's approved streetscape list, which is available in the community development department; alternative designs may be approved on a case-by-case basis with the approval of the community development director.
Does the lighting conform?

Would it be possible to have the resolution presented, please? If the lights and their location do not conform to the requirements of the permit, it would seem the remedy--from the City's standpoint--is easy: issue an order to conform and deny a COA until it's solved.
Why is this so complicated?
And is the issue just SunTrust, or is it also Bank of N Georgia?

Well, that's actually an interesting comment. If one looks carefully, one will notice that the boulevard lights in front of SunTrust do not match the boulevard lights in front of Synovus.
It's apparent to me the REAL reason City staff wants to get rid of the Village Overlay: they lack either the skill or will to manage it. If they can't get pole laps right, or parking lot lights, thewre's really no hope they can manage the big issues. Likewise for Council. They can't adopt a plan for a park (Brook Run) after nearly three years of study. If they open the overlay to debate, it will never end.
This particular issue is NOT closed. What is the light standard? Do the lights have to match Dunwoody Village Parkway? The neighbor? And we still have violating lights at Dunkin Donuts, Novo, Publix, and the Methodist Church. Nobody minding the store.

Pne more note. The not-matched boulevard libhts are in at SunTrust, but they left their modern lights in. Do they not have to be removed?
And the boulevard lights in front of Synovus are never on. They are inoperable, and have been for probably a year. The make fine dog latrines, however.
