There have been at least three times my husband has witnessed a car with its front wheels accidently driven into the sunken planters. It is NOT a good design. While it is driver error, my husband had to re-park our van the other day because he couldn't physically get out without stepping into a hole that is more than 18" deep. One day a woman asked him to help lift the front of her car out of the hole and he told her to call a tow truck. Today around 4pm there was a woman in tears because her car's wheel had become stuck in the hole. Is someone going to wait for someone to break a leg? I can't believe nobody has sued someone yet. I will never go there at night time. The curb makes it look like a planter box but it's deceiving. The planter box is 12-36" down, depending on which planter you examine. Ridiculous design. Unsafe for a busy population in my opinion. What can be done?
