In the past 6 mo. I have seen two dogs hit and killed by speeding cars. Children play in and near the road often, so it's only a matter of time. Now that the road has been repaved, the speeding is getting worse. New York Ave has speed bumps, so people just zoom up Vermont instead. I know the CATA buses use Vermont, so not sure if speed bumps would be ok for them, so maybe more police patrols? Or 4-way stops at all the intersections?

The last time we collected data, no intersection along Vermont met the criteria for a four way stop, which is just below what is required for a traffic signal. Traffic count and speed data will be taken in the spring to see if there have been changes in traffic characteristics since traffic calming was implemented. We try and minimize the use of speed humps on CATA routes, whenever possible.
