The burned out structure at 1105 Stutz Drive NE looks as if it could collapse at any moment, since the property is continually burglarized and vandalized it represents a very real threat to those entering it. With high spring winds approaching, the possibility of collapse is very possible. The city has liability issues and a legal obligation for the demolition and clean up of this blighted derelict property. We neighbors have been told repeatedly by the city that this property would be demolished and cleaned up, but no action has taken place. We concerned neighborhood residents will continue to pursue this issue with the city until resolved.

I trust our collective efforts will be welcomed by the city and encourage them to do what is required to make our little community whole again and contribute to the goal of Albuquerque - to remedy its reputation and restore it as a sought after place to live and work!

I thank you for providing a reply, however, the response does not address my questions. The issue is not "resolved". I do not know why this issue has been closed given the obvious fact that the property in question has not been remedied. I am requesting this issue remain open to allow other concerned community residents to view and comment on. To do otherwise is disingenuous, to lead other residents and the community into believing that the issue is resolved by merely stating that the city is "attempting to find money". Please understand there is no disrespect intended. Neighborhood residents walk by this property every day. After nearly 2 years, we are weary of the process and losing hope that anything will be done soon. Please, I ask you to place yourself in our shoes. What if you were to live nearby or next to this property. How would you react? What would you do to remedy this? Would you simply ignore it with the hope that someday it would be somehow addressed? Would you want to continue living next to this property in this neighborhood? Would you continue to believe the best and the many city responses after 2 years? I trust your answers would be the same as ours. In closing, we understand we are not the only residents pleading our case. But we are also aware that unless we keep this in the city's focus it has the potential of becoming lost in bureaucracy. Please provide us the courtesy of keeping this issue open as a show of confidence that the city will soon truly address this property. I want to also acknowledge and thank Councilor Harris and Director Campbell and their teams for ridding this blight from our area. And finally to ALL of my great neighbors who both openly and behind the scenes continue to advocate for our little community. THEY are what make this neighborhood a joy to live in. Funding has been found to remove this structure. Request for bids to remove the structure have been sent out to City approved contractors.
