CODE Thank you for addressing. These are new owners the prior owner only had 3' chain link fence near driveway which is now gone. Many people in this area are complaining and per Section 16.40.040 - Fence regulations they could have 4' fence abutting Neighboors and 4' fence in front with a certain distance from sidewalk for easement since this is front yard and facing a major street 30th ave N.

This is a definite hazard. You cannot see traffic coming from the East on 30th Avenue N when you are at the stop sign on 10th Street N. I thought a homeowner needed a permit to put up a fence. Why would the City of St. Petersburg approve a 6-foot fence on the South side of this property.

WCJ maybe you will have better luck then all the other neighboors complaining about howslow CODE IS AND does NOTHING. The owners are milking the system and do not want to remove. Their is a height restriction and law but oviously CODE does nothing but reschedule the hearings and this has been going on since easter. You need to call CODE at 893-7373 and ask for Theresa MYRRICK (handeling this case # 18-00006990 or a manager ) JUNE 27th is the hearing that was suppose to happen MAY 24th but never did.

This fence definitely blocks the 30th Av N view to the west from the alley between Jackson & 11 Strs. Most bicyclist use the sidewalk regardless of direction traveling; if they're riding west to east, it's an accident waiting to happen.

MK...I just called and left a voice message for Theresa Myrrick. She's supposedly out of the office on codes compliance issues. I almost got hit this morning on my bicycle because a driver could not see me coming from the East in front of this illegal fence. This is an accident waiting to happen. The City is moving way too slowly unfortunately on this issue. If someone gets hurt because of the inaction of the City of St. Petersburg and Ms. Myrrick, there will be multiple lawsuits guaranteed for the homeowners and the City of St. Petersburg especially if I'm the one that gets hit.

WCJ many people stating this hazards cause of their fence height but unfortunetly Code Theresa is stating they are changing the rules (just like that) Not like the ruling code enforcement drives the road before making this discission all I was told is their fence is NOW allowed because of the construction and road changes on 30th. How about that? 30th ave N is allowed 6' fences in front of their property just like that after hearing board heard their case.

For clarification on a few comments posted. A permit is not required to installed a fence on a residential property. This property is scheduled to go before the Code Enforcement Board on Wednesday 6/28 at that time the Board will determine if a violation exist and provide time for the fence to come into compliance before a daily lien accrues. Codes has no authority to make the owner remove or lower the fence we can assess penalties or other legal action for non-compliance. We have already advised this owner that the fence is in violation our action will proceed in accordance with the rules set forth in State Statute.

Sorry Analyst ... I just called code to verify your notes and this is a done deal. No further hearings scheduled on this issue. Ruled that they can keep 6' high fence in front of their property and the new Fence regulation per code is going to change for all of 30th ave N that is everybody can have 6' high fences in front of their house as long as easement is followed. Which is what?? The fence above might need to be moved back now since the road way has moved in toward the fence? That is what should be done now have fence moved back since they are approved by code to keep fence up. This call happened last week from code. People can continue to call in to report hazard to cyclists passing 11st N North side of road. I dont paticular think 30th aveN will look pretty with that high of a wood fence but people have right to complain if a hazzard to people.

This is a stupid decision. If I get hit by any car on this road due to this hazard, I will be suing the City of St. Petersburg and the homeowners. Another stupid decision by the City of St. Petersburg. Shame on you.

I don't understand what's going on here. These is no question this is very dangerous whether operating a car or a bicycle. If the purpose of the fence is to keep a pet enclosed, a chain link fence would work fine (one was there for many years). If the purpose is for privacy, well, sorry, the owner purchased the property facing 30th avenue north knowing full well there would be no privacy in the front yard. Nothing changed. If they wanted a private, enclosed yard then this was not the right property fit. Why do others have to take a risk every time they use this intersection. Who from the city can explain this decision? Thank you.
