Nice idea but the people who live on the street have no alleys, meaning the only place they can park is on the street. Parking is already tight and if you took away one side of ths street then parking would almost be non-existant. The cure is making it one way.

Boy do I understand that! I live on North Charlotte St. and don't have a driveway. Between the people who do have driveways and don't use them, the houses that were turned into apartments, one rental home with five cars and people across the street who DO have driveways and don't use them especially when it snows! That's why sometimes during the snow emergency we park on Oak because the other side is 30 minute parking! We try so hard not to park there because we understand!

The road is for travel it's not for parking. no one forced anyone to buy a house with out a driveway. They should remove parking then.

Ted's post might be the worst post ever on here. Your statement is so out of context and incorrect that you should just delete it and save embarassment.

How is my post out of context? A proposal was made that parking be removed. A road is not intended for parking or storage of your vehicle. It is intended for travel. I don't want to hear whining about no driveways. No one forces anyone to buy a house without a driveway. Parking concerns are not somthing the city or state should be concerned with. Safety and ease of travel are priorities. Therefore, parking should be removed at least on one side. Situation solved.

Who said anything about a proposal to have parking removed??? Mike is right, you are way off the mark on this Ted. Almost all of Pottstown in street parking. Just because you can afford to live in a nicer neighborhood that has driveways doesnt mean everyone has the same luxery. Maybe if you drove down Oak St and saw how things were laid out you might feel differently. For the most part, the people who live on this street are hard working 9-5 people who are just looking to have a safe street for their cars. The sensible thing would be to make it one way with both sides of the street open for parking in the same direction.

There are millionaires that live in cities too. Would you feel the same way if they complained about it? There are a gizzilion houses in Pottstown that sell for less than the materials that make the house! Ive seen the street. It's like many others in many cities with one side parking (usually alternate) it's nothing special. Shut down parking on one side. Your parking situation doesn't mean you get to screw up the driving situation for those that have to use the road as intended, TO TRAVEL ON!

Obliviously Ted has a driveway or doesn't have many cars on his street. When I bought my house many years ago, there wasn't much out there to pick from. People also didn't turn the homes into apartments either! I think if houses are going to be turned into apartments then they should be required to have parking for them! The owner of the house at 364 North Charlotte Street wanted to split the land in half and sell the half on North Evans Street. The board would not allow this because of parking on North Charlotte Street and North Evans Street! I was at the meeting so I know what I'm talking about. This is the house that has five cars and a two car garage that is falling apart and they can't use it! My taxes SHOULD give me a right to park in front of my home! They keep on going up but we as TAXPAYERS aren't getting anything for the increases!

And your reponses are annoying and ignorant. Talk about audacity. You may or may not have ever driven down this street but you have no idea what type of neighborhood or how the parking situation is in this neighborhood. If the borough actually did a study on this street they would see the fact that one way is the way to go and the original started of this post would be correct. If they shoved their noses up their @#$% and pretended there wasnt a problem, then their name might be Ted. It is a responsable option to make the street one way and still allow the resticted parking as it is to still continue on both sides of the street. Heck, if they can change the direction of Lincoln and Jefferson Sts., why not this. Alright Ted, you can pull out now and give us another lousy response.

It only took 11 years but they finally made Oak St one way. 🙌
