Description
Dangerous driveway, the driveway for wells Fargo is too close to the intersection. People just get around the corner or through the intersection then slam on the breaks to turn into driveway. I can to count the number of times I personal have came within inches of being in an accident because of this driveway. This needs to be shut down or relocated farther from the intersection.

While I agree it would be nice to have the entrance to Northdale Blvd moved further south and away from the Main Street intersection, the City does not have unilateral authority to close or relocate driveways. It should be noted the driveway on Northdale Blvd is limited to a "right-in right-out" configuration, because of the median on Northdale Blvd. Unfortunately, the location of the driveway does not allow for installation of a dedicated right turn lane into the property. It also should be noted there is no dedicated right turn lane to access 124th Avenue which has a much higher volume of turning traffic.
One of the reasons why there are two southbound lanes on Northdale Blvd is to provide a safe means of travel around vehicles turning right into the Wells Fargo property, 124th Avenue, and the side entrance to Target.

Thank you for sharing your concerns and ideas with us regarding the access to Wells Fargo on Northdale Blvd, located just south of Main Street/CSAH 14 in Coon Rapids. Because Main Street/CSAH 14 is a major arterial route, has 6 thru lanes with right turn lanes and dual left turn lanes, and has a significantly higher traffic volume than Northdale Blvd, it would not be appropriate to add another access point for Wells Fargo onto Main Street/CSAH 14. Please be advised that we are discussing the issue with staff at the City of Coon Rapids, and are monitoring the intersection. Thanks again for your report.
Sincerely,
The Anoka County Highway Department
