We did check this signal out on 3/18/2013 to make sure it was not having any detection or other operational malfunctions, and we found no issues. We have had a heavy workload and were not able to view the actual operation of the signal system during the time of night when the problem was reported to occur at until last night 4/8/2013. During this 4/8/2013 operational review, we watched the signal operation from approx. 8:30pm-9:30pm, and we also found no issues. The signal is cycling properly. The system is basically designed to rest in green on the mainline (Airport Road has the progression priority over the TH 10 Off Ramp) and will then serve the TH 10 Ramp exit only when demand exists. The max green time for the mainline Airport Road green is 55seconds, so if demand exists, the signal will continue to serve the mainline green for the full 55seconds, which is just 5seconds short of the minute referenced in the SeeClickFix email. It should be noted that the demand on Airport Road does not have to be a steady stream of cars to hold that approach to the full max of 55seconds, but instead the demand can consist of a car traveling in either direction on Airport Road, followed by another car traveling on either approach of Airport Road that passes over the advance detection (located approximately 150-180ft in advance of the stop bar) before a standard delay time expires (based on speed of the vehicle and the distance to travel safely thru the intersection). The signal would then continue to serve Airport Road mainline green in this fashion to the max. green time of 55seconds as long as this demand exists.
