I second the "Bad Idea" on this. It is all around a bad idea.

Wait until the construction is over. Then the lights/roads will be easier to navigate again. I promise.

It is probably a bad idea based on the 50 mph speed limit. Perhaps they should consider lowering the speed limit...especially with that new shopping center being built on the corner.

Any turn light that doesn't stay "on" long enough to "flush out" all waiting traffic is not doing the job it is intended to do. Eliminating the "red" light on a turn light enables traffic to proceed if no oncoming traffic is present.

@GeaugaTruck: That is not entirely true... sometimes traffic from one direction takes priority because it would cause other intersections to become jammed which would block up traffic exponentially.

91 has a very long turning lane, as well as few intersections and almost zero businesses.

Vine has a very short turning lane, loads of intersections, and a ton of businesses.

So, letting the people sit on 91 to let Vine clear out is the better option in this case.

The issue that is happening NOW is that the construction is causing a lot of people to backup onto Vine and that is what is making people mad. Once the construction is finished, it will go back to what it was before--which was almost perfect from what I recall.

@RP: Lowering the speed limit won't solve the traffic jams from people wanting to turn, and with 91 having so few intersections it would take AGES to get anywhere for no reason. There are already too many people going 35mph in the left lane causing people to wildly swerve around them.

@ RP, I think it would be a bad idea to lower the speed limit on 91 to accomodate what you call a new shopping center. It is a single Walgreens store, not exactly what I would consider a shopping center. A number of sources have all said the same thing about it, there will be no exit or entrance to it off of 91. Nothing about it warrents a lower speed limit on a state route.

I have not noticed this. Is this like at 3 a.m.?

After 11:00 pm when coming home from work and you are the only car on Route 91 to be able to turn left onto Vine Street would make life easier instead of waiting for both cycles to happen and you can turn left onto to 91 from Vine Street why can't it be the other way around

Eastlakians, a brief synopsis; The traffic signals on S.R. 91, between Euclid Ave. and Lakeshore Blvd., are a prime example of how bureaucracy inhibits efficiency. They are extremely inefficient, but when asked to provide relief, local and county officials state that they cannot affect the signals because the signals are "under" state jurisdiction . However , there is evidence that other county jurisdictions (Cuyahoga) for S.R. 91, have been able to manipulate signal activity without state intervention. It appears a lack of "want to" resides locally on this issue , with respect to the politicians.
