Presing the button to enable the pedestrian cross signal does not work when crossing at Williston and Kennedy on the south west corner heading south. However it does work if heading in the direction of the airport. This makes it extremely dangerous for pedestrians and is an accident waiting to happen.
This is also the case at the intersection of Hinnesburg road and Kennedy and in the same direction but on west corner.
Ok - one last place I encounter a problem is when I come out of Timberlane and want to cross at the light to get to the bike path on the other side. The signal must be triggered by a vehicle because I waited there on my bike for 3 signal changes and only when a car came did it change.
Please test all of these signals frequently and in both directions considering all types of users. Make is easier and safer for those choosing a form of transportation other than automotive vehicle.

We will look at the problem mentioned at the Williston/Kennedy intx.
Hinesburg/Kennedy is a state-owned intx., so I'll pass your note along to them.
Signal detection equipment will not pick up the presence of bicycles.

Signals are always in "detection mode" if they are equipped with detection capability. Generally we detect for side street vehicles, but some intersections have detection for all directions.
Intersections that detect with in pavement electrical wires generally won't pick up a bicycle. The newer methods of detection (video, thermal, radar) are getting better at picking up peds and bikes. Our system is converting to these newer methods over time as an intersection is upgraded.
