I reported this last year (https://seeclickfix.com/issues/3730578) and was given the reasoning that they want the signs "as close as possible to the park boundary" and that "moving the sign away from the all-way stop controlled intersection will enable vehicles to accelerate to a higher speed before they reach the playground". While these are both valid reasons, it seems like it would make more sense to place the sign in a more visible location to those turning the corner.

I notice that photo radar is constantly in this zone. Do you think this sign placement has anything to do with that? It seems like they city is more interested in the revenue from photo radar vs the safety of a better sign placement in this playground zone.

The City’s traffic engineering team has assessed the size and location of the sign and made the following observations: The playground zone sign installed at this location is the standard size 600mm x 600mm (2’ x 2’) orange sign. The sign is located at the start of the playground and is clearly visible as southbound drivers approach the stop controlled intersection. The sign will not be replaced with a larger sign or moved to another location. Thankyou again for your enquiry.

The sign may be in an appropriate place, however, the amount of traffic, trees, other signs and vehicles parked at the park make it difficult for the sign to stand out enough and I am concerned for the safety of the park goers.

More importantly, the sign is actually just after the curve of the corner. A vehicle would still be turning so the point of view makes the sign not visible. What are the city guidelines for sign placement after a corner?
