Description

FIRE HYDRANT HAS BEEN MOVED/RELOCATED BY CONTRACTOR - 1/3/2019 Request COBI to CLOSE ISSUE. Appreciation and thank you to COBI for working with CONTRACTOR to close this issue.

Assign to Fire Marshall to evaluate. Determine if public street parking boundary lines need to be fixed in front of 164 Madrona Way NE where a fire hydrant was installed. In evaluating, look into having boundary parking lines to be 15 feet away or determine there is Fire Marshall approval of an exception. Request Fire Marshall to work with Public Works after completing the evaluation.

Please extend time for this issue to be worked. According to RCW 46.61.570 parking should be prohibited within 15 feet of the fire hydrant. Parking boundary lines should be corrected and this action has not been completed.

If there is an "agreed" plan and "schedule" to relocate the hydrant away from the parking, this should resolve the issue. Appreciate that at least one parking space at the hydrant location has been taped off for no parking. Please continue keeping this issue open until there is an action plan that includes a schedule.

Please keep this issue open until City obtains a completion date given by the Contractor to relocate the hydrant. Scheduled completion date with month and specific date given to the City would be appreciated to close this issue. Please publish as a Comment. Thank you for your diligence for working with the Contractor. In the interim, keeping a 15 foot clear radius around the fire hydrant is essential in case of fire to the neighborhood condominium and apartment buildings along Madrona Way NE.

Please keep this issue open until City obtains a completion date when the Contractor will relocate the hydrant. Request the City official to look into obtaining the scheduled completion date. In the interim, please look into signage to complement the taped off area. The reason for signage is that I have seen people move the taping to squeeze vehicles within the 15 foot surrounding area in front of the hydrant. Thank you for your consideration.

Please keep this issue open. Contractor has not undertaken action to move or relocate the hydrant as of December 9, 2019. Vehicles continue to park in front of hydrant and the orange flurorescent loopers are NOT a stable deterrent to discourage parking; parking enforcement is lacking. Recommendation is a more stable deterrent such as a City of Bainbridge Island barricade stand with "FIRE LANE - NO PARKING - TOW AWAY ZONE" and follow-up by parking enforcement patrols.
