Description
I received a complaint that the crosswalk at 37th and Cambridge is dangerous. The sight lines aren’t adequate to cross safely. There’s a good chance that westbound traffic would not have time to react if there were a person crossing. The crosswalk probably should have been put at the crest of the hill.

The consultant collected data on this location and made a recommendation to leave the crosswalk in place for four reasons:
* The visibility of a pedestrian to a car and vice versa is available for this crossing at the posted speed limit.
* The pedestrian crossing sign is visible to approaching traffic for over 500 feet.
* The crossing is likely to continue to be used even once it has been relocated.
* Legal crossings are available at each intersections, whether signed or not, for pedestrians that are uncomfortable crossing at this location.
After careful consideration, I have agreed to leave the crossing at the current location and this work has been removed from the aforementioned project. I will leave this thread open until October 15 to allow for a response, or you can feel free to call Traffic Engineering at 785-368-3842.
Thank you
