This is not the first time this has happened. I need to take my 3 month old to the doctor... what are we supposed to do here? This is a serious matter, how’s this allowed to close both side of the street??

They can't hold you hostage. Just move the cones and drive through. If there is an officer there, he/she will let you leave.

Not sure why my comment was blocked, but I simply said they can't trap you there. Drive through the cones, or if the officer is there, they must let you through. Jersey City is not good at letting residents and business know that there will be road work and closures.

Fields does not have permission to close off steuben. Ignore their signs or people unless there is a officer guiding you.

Thank you for submitting this issue, I wet down and saw Steuben was open for automobiles to go through. I spoke directly to the contractor who I advised not to close down the street without permission from the Traffic and Engineering Department . All construction work and including all deliveries must have permission from Traffic , a permit and a police officer to close the street down. The street will remain open and the road closed sign that was there has been placed to the side. I will be monitoring the contractors on Steuben street to make sure they follow the Jersey City standards.
