Waze and google maps routes people coming from the freeway to turn on D st SE instead of taking South Carolina to get to Independence. It has them take D street to 16th (in front of a school - Payne) and the then 16th to Independence or East capitol. The result is heavy volumes of distracted drivers on 16th street SE heading north. Also there is heavy volume on 16th street SE heading south from those choosing not to use 17th after traffic calming. Please make 16th street less desirable to drive down with raised crosswalks, permanent bulb outs and other measures.
