You are correct in that Route 206 (Bayard Lane) and Route 27 (Nassau Street) are State Highways. As such, the respective roadways and the associated traffic signals along the same fall under the jurisdiction of the NJDOT (New Jersey Dept. of Transportation). Any changes made to the configuration of the same would therefore have to be approved by said entity. I am forwarding your request to Ms. Deanna Stockton, the Municipal Engineer, so she can review the same and perhaps consider that your request be included in an already initiated corridor study which was initiated w/ the NJDOT to address various concerns that the municipality has with the majority of the traffic signals located along Nassau Street between Harrison and Bayard. - Sgt Thomas R. Bad idea. Right turn on red and scramble crosswalks don't mix. Once drivers get accustomed to being able to turn right on red, they would do it all the time, even when the arrow was not lit. It would make this intersection more dangerous for pedestrians.

The scramble crosswalk isn't at the intersection of Bayard Ln and Nassau St - it's at the intersection of Washington Rd and Nassau St.

The Bayard / Nassau (206/27) intersection does have a pedestrian scramble feature. As noted by Sgt. Murray, NJDOT has an on-going signal optimization study for both of these roadways. Traffic counts have been made, and recommendations will be formulated by their consultant, to address concerns such as this regarding the queue from 27 onto northbound 206.
