A big cause of near-accidents is the fact that tenants of Holiday on the Bay come zooming out of their apartment project at 40+ MPH. Why in the world isn't there a stop sign at a private development's intersection with a county road? Why did the developer get such favorable treatment from the Republican county freeholders and township councilmen? Could political contributions have anything to do with it? We all know the builder slipped the project in just before the coastal development laws went into effect. Answers, please!
I just think it's crazy that "frank" would feel that his comments about why the apartments were built (over 25 years ago, by the way) would have any relevance about whether people should be running a stop sign. I also think it is very sad that he refers to it as a "project". Many decent hardworking people live there. I simply would like for them to do something about that intersection. It's not a home owner versus apartment dweller situation. Just want to see it fixed before someone gets hurt.
1. The way the apts. were built is pertinent, because the pvt. development has the right of way (no stop sign) over the county road (Kettle Creek is Rt. 620) and Green Island Rd., both of which have more traffic. As a result, apt. tenants come flying out onto the main road without looking.
2. Project is a common word for development, as in highway project, bridge project. etc. Don't be so sensitive.
Somebody please tell the county freeholders (who now wants our votes) that traffic from a private development should not have the right of way over a county road! Near-collisions almost every day there. Put up a STOP sign now, not after an accident.
Make it a 3-way stop intersection, with only Kettle Creek Rd. coming from Hooper having the right of way. Apartment tenants should have a stop sign, because it's a private development not a main road.
Vehicles coming from the right and left (Green Island and Cambourne Shores) know to stop at the red signs and look out for the teants who speed out of the apts.
Why in the world are they allowed to enter a public road without stopping? The way they drive is insane.
