I have made that request before as well without any luck. Speed limit on Upper River Road at Twin Pines going towards Shurling Drive was reduced successfully from 45 to 25....there shoul not be any reason why Twin Pines shouldn’t be 25 or 30. Or maybe just put more officers on the road to catch speeders . I walk my dog in Shirley Hills and have no choice but to walk some stretches in Twin Pines and cars go by like bullets sometimes speeding to 65 miles per hour at least going towards Jones County . They use Twin Pines as a shortcut to Gray Highway ...

We have contacted the Sheriff Department to increase patrol in this area. With increase patrol and the issuance of citations this will lead to speed reduction over time.

Unacceptable. Local residents are respectfully requesting that a study be completed in order for the speed limit to be reduced. Residents are rightfully concerned about the safety of their children and pets. The Sheriff’s department is unable to provide the amount of attention it would take to make a meaningful impact on people reducing their speed. Unless the department is willing to have a marked car parked during peak travel times every day to issue citations, the speed limit on this road needs to be permanently reduced to 25.

I agree. It is unacceptable!!! I constantly see dead deer, cats and dogs because people are speeding. The fact that this is a hilly area, people thank it is actually fun to speed and feel like they are on a roller coaster . I will fight this issue until the speed limit is reduced or speed bumps are placed ! Is is going to take a person to get hit by a car and killed to do something about this ? Why was the speed limit on upper river road is 25 starting at Twin Pines ? Way before the high school ! Can you at least place a sign that shows your speed just like in Nottingham ??
