Description

The pedestrian walk light at Eastern Ave & Maplewood St, MALDEN, MA has been malfunctioning for some time. Pressing the button on the gas station side does not cause the pedestrian light to come on. Instead, the pedestrian light stays orange until after 10 seconds or so when the bottom pedestrian light flashes orange (top light stays solid orange). That flashing orange means that one of the other pedestrian lights must have come on (I think it is the one at Papa Gina's which you can't see from the gas station side). If one starts to walk when the flashing orange comes on, you get only half-way across before the two-lane cars start moving again. Very dangerous. Cars in one lane may stop because a pedestrian may still be in the street while the cars in the other lane zoom by, leaving the pedestrian stranded in the middle of the street. This happened and was very dangerous. Please check all the buttons and all the lights. Sometimes the lights work but the buttons don't.
