Stormwater Management staff met with the property owner and a restaurant owner, and determined the source of the greasy discharge was the recent replacement of a grease hood on the roof of a nearby building. The contractor had washed the rooftop, which allowed grease to enter the roof drains and downstream storm drain. The property manager and restaurant owner were advised to contain wastewater if washing on the roof and dispose of properly. There is now also a protective guard around the grease hood for secondary containment, the grease on the paved surfaces has been cleaned, and the storm drain has been cleaned out.
Thank you again for bringing this issue to our attention.
