Description
The traffic light stays red for northbound traffic on Cherry Street at W. Airy Street because cars line up on the left side of the street and don't trip the sensors embedded in the center of Cherry Street. Given that this area is known for drug sales and prostitution, two of Norristown's leading industries, you don't want to wait here very long. Several years ago, Norristown spent millions on traffic light improvements - including this intersection.

The story is the same at Standbridge and Airy...they placed the sensors over the parking space going south. This whole project took over two years and the result is a 1.8 million dollar mess.
Apparently, judging by the placement of the sensors and how well the whole system works...they were drunk when they did it.
