I had posted this a month ago, but there has been no feedback provided yet in response to this for some unknown reason. Prior to originally posting this, I had previously called the town about this in early May and was told at that time that the crews that are repairing the storm damaged sidewalks would eventually be marking the road with paint to identify underground gas and water lines. It is now 2 months since having been told this and 8 months since the storm. As the town is already well aware since I have already apprised the town about this, this location happens to be utilized by many people on a regular basis as it is a main access way to go in & out of the neighborhood, particularly for students when school is in session. Since this location is dimly lit at night, and considering the significant amount of foot traffic (even at night), I'm sure that the town would find it prudent to not want to choose to leave such a location like this go unrepaired for longer than is necessary, as that could potentially result in someone getting hurt (and perhaps even subsequent lawsuit against the town). Not to be overlooked, but an additional problem now, with it being the summer months, is if this were to be repaired before mid-late August, then any grass seed that the town would be placing on the surrounding turf that had been damaged would not grow in the heat. As anyone knows, the optimal time for proper seed germination is late March to early May, or late August to mid/late September. Lastly, since this wasn't repaired before the summer started, the surrounding damaged turf now has weeds and crabgrass that must first be removed by the town as well before any new top soil & re-seeding would take place. Again, Town of Smithtown, please kindly review this and provide feedback regarding scheduling of this work as was requested in the original posting.
