说明
Town tree (between sidewalk and curb) fell during Superstorm Sandy and its roots had uplifted several sections of sidewalk. The tree and broken sidewalk sections were subsequently removed by the town and temporarily replaced with sand. Additionally, nearby spots of front lawn and some grass between sidewalk and curb near to remaining intact sections of sidewalk were torn up when town used heavy equipment to lift broken tree limbs that they had moved from in the street onto the lawn and then when they had returned at a later time to pick up these limbs. These areas also need new top soil and to be seeded. Lastly, the curb and roadbed along curb was also damaged and is breaking apart. When is this location being scheduled for installation of new sidewalk sections, curb/road repair along with adjacent new top soil and grass seeding? Town of Smithtown - Please kindly update with estimated timeframe.

As suggested, I'll continue to be patient as I have been doing.
Thanks in advance for taking care of this when they do get to this spot.
By the way- I do believe that the Highway Dept has done a commendable job with the cleanup efforts in the wake of the storm.

While there is no way for me to know if this was or was not previously pointed out to the crew as part of the original work order as I believe should have, and would have hoped it would have, but if they were directed to have done that, it was not done.
Accordingly I am leaving this issue open since the work was not completed.
Please kindly ensure that a crew is directed to come back to this location to take care of this.
Thanks once again for looking into and resolving this.

I thought that would have happened.
If so, when is that to occur?

Does a homeowner need to (formally) request for a replacement tree to be planted (type w/deep root root, not spreading root type) even though the town already knows that they had previously removed a town tree?
Please kindly provide some info/clarity on this.

Is the Town Highway Dept still monitoring this website any longer?

I request for a replacement tree w/deep tap root (not spreading root type) to be planted at the approximate same location (or preferably several feet north) of where the original damaged town tree was previously removed from.
Please kindly acknowledge receipt of this request with feedback/info regarding the status of this.
Thanks in advance as I understandably await your response and will leave this open in the meantime.

To the Town of Smithtown Highway Dept -
Anyone there.....................tick, tock, tick tock......................No reply received YET.
This is still an open item regarding replanting of a tree.
Please Note:
This will understandably continue to remain an open item for as long as necessary while awaiting response from Highway Department.

It's not like the contractor could see that was the case because it is pretty obvious. But despite that, they still did the curb work in the manner that they did and left it that way.
The fact of the matter is that it still nevertheless does not look right nor appropriate, and quite honestly looks ridiculous the way that it was not done properly and left as is and never redone to date.

A taxpaying resident should not be erroneously expected by anyone to have to submit a request for a new replacement town tree that the town should already know was needed to be replaced.
Period.
This is NOT a matter of debate as far as I'm concerned.
Forget it.
