Huh? This is about 110st having such a high traffic volume that traffic from 104ave never gets a clear chance to make a turn onto the road. This needs to go to engineering services. In my opinion a small traffic circle would be a perfect fit.

My apologizes, my first intention was an Enforcement officer could be used during heavy traffic times for help with flow of traffic. However our Transportation & Safety Engineering Supervisor is looking into this concern. Thank you.

Thank you for contacting the Citizen Contact Centre with your concerns about the intersection of 104 Ave and 110 St. We are aware of the delays experienced by eastbound vehicles when travelling through this intersection. Our Transportation Engineers have assessed the intersection, for All-Way stop control, using national standards developed the TAC (Transportation Association of Canada). In addition, our engineers have measured the delays using a microsimulation model (Synchro v10). Our analysis confirms that changing the intersection to an all-way stop controlled intersection will substantially reduce peak-period congestion for the eastbound left-turn movement. However, the benefit to eastbound traffic will not offset the significant increase in delays to all other vehicles, at all times of the day, including buses servicing transit routes 4 & 6.

The intersection has been identified for future upgrade to traffic signals and is currently ranked as #14 in list of priority upgrades. Being on the priority list means that we will continue to monitor the intersection’s performance. However, being ranked #14 means that the upgrades are unlikely to be introduced within the next 4 years.
