Description
Along Valparaiso because of the long delays often encountered when oncoming drivers do not let people do left turns, there is a serious problem of drivers taking to the bike lane to pass. This has led to cars swerving towards me regularly. I also regularly see near collisions when drivers take the bike lane for 100 yards or so to make a right turn, and then have a car try to move into the bike lane at a more correct point.
One solution I think might help would be to place cones on the line between the bike lane and the car lane every 10 yards or so, stopping 100 feet before the right turn to allow for the normal safe use of the lane before turning right. I noticed that the crossing guard at Sacred Heart already does this manually when he is present, to protect the children from drivers at the crossing point.
