Good morning,

Due to the accident data over the past year the Traffic Signal at HBR & Martin Landing was converted back to protected left-turn during the hours of 6AM to 9PM. This decision was made by GDOT and RDOT due to safety concerns and the current accident trend analysis for the left turning movements.

Derrick, Please explain more completely what you mean by "due to .......the current accident trend analysis for the left turning movements"
Just because one individual fails to yield to oncoming traffic does not mean that other law abiding drivers should be inconvenienced.
Please provide accident trend analysis for this specific intersection ONLY related to violations of yielding on a flashing yellow.

Currently we have had six side-impact collisions (angle crashes) since the flashing yellow lights were installed a little over a year ago. In the past ten years we have went from no angle crashes to six. This type of accident may sustain far more severe injuries than other type of accidents. Please keep in mind just because the motorist failed to yield the right away there are other contributing factors like the 4.8% down grade of HBR, vehicle speeds, and the motorist unable to properly judge their depth perception of the approaching vehicles.
