Description
I'm referencing #5717741 in gathering info for pedestrian safety on France in the Morningside neighborhood. Last summer I was bumped from behind by a car turning west from France onto 44th Street while I was crossing northbound on that street. Not sure if driver was distracted or trying to lake a quick left to beat oncoming southbound traffic on France, but it was unnerving to say the least. Now I'm constantly trying to make eye contact with drivers before crossing any intersection in that area, but difficult to rely on that, of course. With the new condos, and more kids, I fear the problem can only get worse without some creative solutions. Also, to reference 4340-215 about a pedestrian light at 42 and France, much needed! As a longtime bus rider, crossing France can be dangerous but also can take forever! Somehow, the speeds on France have to be slowed between Excelsior and 44th.
