Middle Ave. is in terrible shape. As a major arterial, it should have never allowed to deteriorate so badly and been repaved years ago. I believe that it was last paved in 2006. Hopefully its on the City's paving list for 2019.
The City has ample reserves and has no reason to allow important streets like Middle to fall into disrepair. The City should reevaluate the impact fees charged to construction projects to ensure that the fees are commensurate with the damage to Menlo Park streets caused by the heavy construction trucks.
We've lived on Middle for over 33 years and during this time Middle has never been repaved. About 10-15 years ago, it was slurry sealed (a mixture of water, asphalt emulsion and very small aggregate that usually lasts 3 years). The entire section of Middle from El Camino to Olive needs attention, as it continues to deteriorate quickly.
