Totally agree. I live on Carriage Way and cars come speeding down the road all the time. I can be pulling out of my driveway and they do t even hit the brakes. I end up having to stop and back into my driveway until they pass.

Speed bumps do not work and make driving in the neighborhood unpleasant. Please do not install speed bumps here!

Yes ma’am. Formerly in River North for 18 years and I can tell you speed breakers do not slow anyone down. They still fly through like they aren’t there and you also then have the added noise from engines revving up to get going again after people slow at each one. Its actually more disruptive to the peace. The rest of us who don’t speed have to deal with a very unpleasant drive through this beautiful neighborhood. A better deterrent is getting random sheriff patrol to park on a side street and ticket them on a regular basis. I would hate to see this beautiful drive ruined by speed bumps like they did in River North, especially since they do not work.

I live on Carriage Way and we have complained about the speed coming down the hill toward the lake for years. Have requested random speed enforcement by sheriff patrols for years. I have yet to see them even try. I know that speed bumps and stop signs would be disruptive to those who don't speed, but walking dogs in the evening on Carriage Way can be quite dangerous.

I live just after the first curve on Carriage Way and people have already picked up speed there. I really think the majority of the speeders are residents of Rivoli Downs. I have noticed some have made an effort to do better but it is still a real problem. I worry every time I pull out of my driveway.

I will resubmit. The issue is far from resolved if anything it has gotten worse. Terrible public service that you would close an issue after over 4 years and have yet to take any action.

SeeClickFix fixes broken things. I don't think these are the folks to change intersections, add stop signs where there are none, etc. You may need to ask a county commissioner how to start the studies and things they do for adding stop signs / changing intersections. SeeClickFix doesn't do that.

We do understand your frustration due to speeding on this roadway. We are dealing with this issue throughout the County. Carriage Way is a subdivision with the majority of speed violators are the resident living there. We suggest your home owners association alert homeowners of the speeding problem by using your communication platform. Let them know how this is impacting your community and they are the violators.

In addition, stop signs are used to assign right of way and to make sure that traffic flows smoothly and predictably. Because a stop sign is used to assign right of way at an intersection, it is not an effective means to control speeding. Research shows that where stop signs are installed as "deterrents" or "speed breakers," there are high incidences of intentional violations resulting in accidents.
