Description

Good Morning:

Our neighbor reported to your Department recently a sink hole in the roadway in front of her residence at 10309 Spruce Way, Ellicott City, MD 21042. It is related to the storm drain and it would appear that the storm drain wall has failed and allowed the dirt and gravel from the roadway to enter the drain and be washed away. Thus the  asphalt has collapsed and formed a hole. The hole is 12-24" in length and about 8-10" deep. The drain and roadway across the street from the hole seems to have a similar issue developing (just no hole yet).

Someone may have come out to look at the issue already and determine the repair needed. The more urgent need is for the area of the hole to have traffic cones or other barriers so people don't park there and walkers do not trip or worse break a bone by stepping into the hole in the dark. Our community has early morning and late night walkers/runners and I could see how this hole could injure someone.

Thank you.
