Description
Could we please get some "Dogs Must Be on Leashes at all times" signs up at Memorial Park and the other parks in town. My daughter's service dog was approached and growled at by a dog whose owners were at the other end of the park with their dog not on a leash. Her dog has already been attacked once in town I would prefer it to NOT happen again. He is a working dog and has as much right to be there as anyone else.

Good morning,
Thank you for reaching out. I am very sorry to hear that your daughter's service dog was threatened by an off leash dog, you are correct, that should not be happening. Our Animal Control Ordinance, https://bit.ly/2XB3PO9, does not require leashes at all times and, therefore, these signs would not be enforceable. Owners are required to have their dog under voice or sight control and it seems that the dog you describe was not. If I can answer any further questions please give me a call, 207-730-4149.
Best,
