Description

There is a sign for no trucks over 1/4 ton on Franklin St, Eastbound from RIA. However there are still Mack Trucks regularly using this route illegally. This sign is not being enforced, nor is the speed limit on Franklin St east of Rhode Island. Buses and these oversized vehicles, in addition to other traffic, speed and create dangerous situations for residents, park/library/elementary school pedestrians, and cause disturbances to the residents of Franklin St. I have almost been hit by cars while crossing during the pedestrian light at 18th and Franklin multiple times while pushing a stroller with my baby in it because people are trying to make turns fast because the traffic moves so fast on this street and people will honk at you if you slow down. I'm regularly honked at when slowing down to turn into my alley or to park in front of my house. The speed limit in front of my house is 15mph when children are present. There are at least 8 children living on this block, and we're across from the park, so there are always children present. Over the winter we had 4 major car accidents in less than a month, one involving a flipped vehicle, on Franklin between 17th and 18th NE. Please enforce traffic on this street!!!
